Gautam Gambhir Addresses Dressing Room Leaks Ahead of Sydney Test

Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir broke his silence on dressing room leaks during a pre-match press conference ahead of the Sydney Test.

Gambhir emphasized that what happens inside the dressing room should remain private. His statement came in response to reports suggesting that he was unhappy with Rishabh Pant for recklessly throwing his wicket away to off-spinner Travis Head.

Speaking on the matter, Gambhir said, “It’s not about individuals because ultimately, you win as a team and lose as a team. When you play for your country, everyone tries to give their best contribution, which is what matters. The debates between a player and coach should remain confined to them. What the public sees are the results, and fortunately or unfortunately, what happens inside the dressing room stays there.”

Gambhir dismissed claims of any unrest within the Indian team, asserting, “There is nothing in the team that is out of control. Things could have been worse, but they aren’t.”

His remarks followed India’s loss in the MCG Test and the Boxing Day Test, leaving them 2-1 down in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.

Discussing the team’s performance, Gambhir added, “It’s not that our batting or bowling hasn’t been up to the mark. If that were the case, we wouldn’t have won a Test match or been 2-1 down—we could have been in a much worse situation. So, as I said, there’s nothing overly worrisome.”

The Indian team now looks ahead to the Sydney Test with hopes of leveling the series.
