Carlo Ancelotti, the Real Madrid boss, addressed the media after Real Madrid’s recent victory against Napoli in the Champions League. Here’s his analysis of the match:
“We displayed a comprehensive and disciplined performance throughout the game. The first half was particularly impressive, with Bellingham, Valverde, and Rodrygo causing Napoli significant issues between the lines. Napoli couldn’t effectively counter our tactics, and we maintained control.”
“Although Napoli’s penalty temporarily shifted the momentum, we managed to regain control and scored a crucial goal towards the end.”
Ancelotti also had high praise for Jude Bellingham: “I’m astonished that he’s only 20 years old because his character and attitude make him seem much older. He’s consistently focused on the game, possesses exceptional quality, physical strength, and skill. He surprises not only me but everyone else with his maturity.”
Regarding the partnership between Bellingham and Vini Jr., Ancelotti stated, “We allowed Vini Jr. to find his preferred position, and Bellingham complemented him exceptionally well. Their creativity on our left flank created numerous opportunities for us.”
Ancelotti also commended Luka Modrić’s contribution: “Modrić used his experience to assist the team effectively, even after playing for 30 minutes. His motivation and ability to contribute are commendable.”
When questioned about Eduardo Camavinga playing at left-back, Ancelotti explained, “I didn’t want to disrupt the team that performed well in Girona, and Camavinga’s ability to build up play from the back was beneficial in the first half.”
Regarding goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ancelotti acknowledged, “Every player has strengths and weaknesses. Kepa made crucial saves but faces challenges in aerial duels. Perfection is elusive for everyone, including myself.”
