The Dallas Cowboys have reason to be optimistic as they prepare for their Week 4 showdown with the New England Patriots, with two key offensive linemen potentially returning to action.
Head coach Mike McCarthy is “optimistic” about the availability of offensive linemen Zack Martin and Tyler Biadasz for the upcoming game, as reported by Jon Machota of the Athletic. Both players participated in practice on Thursday and were involved in a mock game on Friday. They are scheduled to practice on Saturday as well.
In the previous week’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, both Martin and Biadasz were sidelined due to injuries.
Martin, dealing with an ankle injury, had not missed a game due to injury since 2020, marking a rare absence for the standout lineman. He had sat out the 2021 season opener due to being on the COVID list. On the other hand, Biadasz, who was managing a hamstring issue, had an impressive streak of 35 consecutive starts before being inactive against the Cardinals.
Zack Martin, a product of Notre Dame, was the 16th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, selected by the Cowboys. Over the years, the 32-year-old has established himself as one of the premier offensive linemen in the league, earning eight Pro Bowl selections and receiving six First-Team All-Pro honors.
Tyler Biadasz joined the Cowboys as a fourth-round draft pick in 2020. He assumed a full-time starting role at center in 2021 and made his Pro Bowl debut last season at the age of 25.
With a current record of 2-1 for the season, the Cowboys began their campaign with two impressive victories, showcasing their dominance by outscoring opponents 70-10 across those two games. This strong start led many to consider Dallas as a top Super Bowl contender. However, their momentum was halted by a humbling 28-16 upset loss to the Cardinals last Sunday.
As the Cowboys prepare to face the Patriots, the potential return of Martin and Biadasz provides a significant boost to their confidence and chances of securing a victory.
