Apollo Creed Actor Carl Weathers Dies at 76

Carl Weathers, renowned for portraying Apollo Creed in the "Rocky" series, passed away at the age of 76, confirmed by his manager Matt Luber. 

Weathers, known for his roles in "Predator" and Adam Sandler's "Happy Gilmore," also earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for his work in "The Mandalorian." 

Beyond acting, Weathers voiced Combat Carl in "Toy Story 4" and played a fictionalized version of himself in the TV series "Arrested Development." 

Born in New Orleans in 1948, Weathers initially pursued a career in football, playing for the Oakland Raiders, before transitioning to acting. 

In "Predator," Weathers starred alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura, later hosting "Saturday Night Live" and returning for a spoof segment. 

Despite initial reluctance, Weathers reconciled with Sylvester Stallone, allowing the use of his likeness in the "Creed" sequel series. 

Weathers diversified his career, directing episodes of TV procedurals and earning an Emmy nomination for his role in "The Mandalorian." 

Survived by his ex-wife Mary Ann and two sons, Carl Weathers made significant contributions to both film and television throughout his prolific career.
