How to Calculate Cricket Performance Formulas?

Understanding cricket statistics can significantly boost your knowledge of the game. Whether you play fantasy cricket, follow tournaments like checking the points table for World Cups, or just enjoy the game, these metrics are essential.

1. Net Run Rate (NRR) Calculator

NRR is heavily utilized in league stages of crucial tournaments to resolve ties between teams on the same points. It focuses on the difference between the runs a team scores per over and the runs they concede per over.

Formula: (Total Runs Scored / Total Overs Faced) - (Total Runs Conceded / Total Overs Bowled)

Note: When entering overs, standard decimal formats like 19.4 mean 19 overs and 4 balls. Our calculator mathematically converts this to 19 + (4/6) = 19.666 overs.

2. Batting Strike Rate & Average

Batting Strike Rate represents how rapidly a batsman scores. A strike rate of 150 means the batter scores 150 runs per 100 balls.

Strike Rate Formula: (Total Runs / Total Balls Faced) × 100

Batting Average denotes the number of runs a player scores per dismissal.

Average Formula: Total Runs Scored / Times Dismissed

3. Bowling Economy, Average, and Strike Rate

Bowlers are judged on their ability to restrict runs and take wickets.

  • Bowling Economy: The average number of runs conceded per over. Formula: Runs Conceded / Overs Bowled.
  • Bowling Average: The number of runs conceded per wicket taken. Lower is better. Formula: Runs Conceded / Wickets.
  • Bowling Strike Rate: The number of balls bowled per wicket taken. Formula: Total Balls Bowled / Wickets.
