Former Dallas high school and NFL star Darren Lewis dies at 55 after battling cancer. Known for his achievements at Texas A&M, he was a two-time All-American.

It’s A bad day for a Dallas as a former Dallas high school superstar, College All American and NFL RB (Running Back) died From cancer. All his Suffering just end at the age of 55 years Old.

Darren Lewis was a Dallas Carter High school Player where in 1987 he was the best Schoolboy Player in the country along with the future Dallas Cowboys Legend Emmith Smith who become an all American Running Back at Texas A&M.

He Played for three years in the NFL (National Football League as a member of a Chicago bears but he was suffered with a dangerous disease cancer that bring trouble in his life.

Legendary Aggies coach R.C. Slocum, recently spent time with Lewis.

“Here toward the end, he’s probably in as good a shape to face what he’s facing now,” Slocum said. “He’s been very strong person of faith. I went up and saw him few weeks ago, and he had his Bible right there on the table next to him. I’m glad he’s not having to suffer anymore. He was fighting it.

“He approached that just like he did football. He played as hard as he could, played right to the end.”

Texas A&M issued a statement.

Darren Lewis was a two time All American Running Back and the all time leading rusher in both Texas A&M and Southwest conference, passed away from battling cancer.

Darren Lewis was born on 7 November, 1968 in the Dallas and in 1986 he came out from Carter High School in Dallas.

he was considered as one of the top prep running back along with the Randy Simmons and Emmitt Smith.

“Lewis, nicknamed Tank, lettered for the Aggies in 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990 and was inducted into the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 1998.”

Lewis also have cocaine addiction problem after football and pleaded guilty in 2014 into the three criminal charges in Dallas related to armed robberies in the area and was sentenced 27 year term in federal prison prison.

He diagnosed with cancer while incarcerated and allowed to leave prison to treatment of disease,he was recently entered Hospice care for the treatment.
