World Blood Donor Day 2023

Every year on June 14th, the world comes together to commemorate World Blood Donor Day.

In 2004, the World Health Organization (WHO) introduced World Blood Donor Day to commorate the birthday of Karl Landsteiner, the renowned Nobel laureate who pioneered the discovery of the ABO blood group system.

The theme chosen for World Blood Donor Day 2023 is “Give Blood, Give Plasma, Share Life, Share Often.”

 Every year on World Blood Donor Day, we celebrate the heroes who selflessly give the gift of life through their blood donations.

 World Blood Donor Day serves as a reminder that a single act of donating blood can save multiple lives and make a significant impact.

World Blood Donor Day highlights the importance of maintaining an adequate and safe blood supply to meet the needs of patients worldwide.
