Wingstop is "calling for a breakup" with consumers' current chicken sandwich options by introducing their own signature chicken sandwich across the country.
The sandwich is served on two toasted buns and comes with pickles.
All of the chain's dozen wing flavours, from lemon pepper to mango habanero, are available in the sandwich.
The sandwich costs $5.49, and a combo of the sandwich, a drink, and fries costs $7.99.
Since the start of the food war, numerous fast food chains have rolled out their own chicken sandwiches.
Popeye's introduced their own sandwich in 2019. Burger King has since launched its own, and McDonald's will test its chicken Big Mac in the United States this year.
Wingstop stated in the press release that people can write a breakup letter to their current chicken sandwich on ChickenSandwichSplit.com.
The first 100,000 fans who "officially announce their split" before September 5 will receive a code for a free chicken sandwich.
The launch comes more than a year after Wingstop launched its online Thighstop campaign, which sold chicken thighs rather than wings during a chicken shortage.
