According to a report by Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady
may walk away from his $375 million deal with Fox to call NFL games.
Marchand stated that he has spoken with sources close to Brady, and feels that there is a 51 percent chance that he will not take the job
One reason for this is that Brady may not want to travel as much as the job requires.
Unlike Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, who often show up on game day, Brady would need to be at the location of the game four days in advance. Additionally,
family is important to Brady, and he shares custody of his children with his wife, Gisele Bundchen.
This news is significant for Fox, which had given Brady a 10-year, $375 million deal in anticipation of his joining the broadcast booth in fall 2024.
Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen were part of Fox’s top team during the 2022 season.
While there was speculation that Brady would be part of Fox’s coverage of Super Bowl LVII, that did not happen.
In February, Brady said during an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd that he wanted to take all of 2023 off
to prepare for the broadcasting role, and to ensure that he could be “great” at it.
Given that Brady is known for giving his all to everything he does, it is understandable that he would not want to take on a role that he could not give his full attention to
At this point, it remains to be seen what Brady’s next career move will be.
