For National Dog Day, the shelter is waiving adoption fees through Sunday, August 28.

Every available dog is microchipped, neutered, and given a veterinary examination.

Heartworm testing and vaccinations to prevent dog-related diseases like PARVO and distemper are part of the veterinary exam

The purpose of the day is to honour these incredible animals who work tirelessly to bring comfort, keep us safe, and save lives.

Colleen Paige got the day started.

Collen is a Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert and an Animal Advocate.

Sheltie, her first family dog, was adopted on this day.

The day has been adopted all over the world, and it is even written into New York law, demonstrating its significance.

You can also commemorate National Dog Day by making a donation to your favourite animal charity.
