Tiger Woods got off to a bad start at the British Open, bogeying the first hole.
But, given what happened with his tee shot, it could have been much worse.
Tiger began the hole by hitting his tee shot to the left side of the fairway.
The ball landed in waist-high rough after hitting a tree.
Tiger decided to hit a provisional tee shot in case the ball was unplayable because the shot was so bad.
Woods chose to take a drop after the ball was discovered and rendered unplayable.
Tiger got a good swing on the ball, but he hit it into a bunker.
The lie was good, and Woods hit a nice save out of the sand, leaving himself with an easy bogey putt.
But, given how the hole began, Woods was fortunate to be only 1-over par going into the second.
