Republican senator , Glenn Thomson, attended his gay son R-Pa's wedding 3 days after voting against same-sex marriage.

R-Pa confirmed that his father was present at the wedding ceremony.

Maddison Stone, Thompson's press secretary, verified the congressman's presence as well.

Congressman and Mrs. Thomson were exited to attend their gay son's wedding.

They both welcomed their son-in-law whole heartedly.

Thompson was one of 157 House Republicans who voted against the bill, which would legalise the right to same-sex and multiracial marriages across the country.

Thompson's office did not answer to a follow-up inquiry about why he voted against the bill.

The Respect for Marriage Act, introduced by House lawmakers on Tuesday, would provide federal protection for same-sex marriages.

The bill was supported by all Democrats and a sizable number of Republicans (47 of 211 House GOP members).
