JayDaYoungan, a budding rap artist, was shot and killed in his hometown of Bogalusa, Louisiana, late Wednesday.
He was just 24 years old.
The upcoming musician, well known for the hits "Elimination" and "23 Island".
Kenyatta Scott Sr., a close relative, was also shot but is reportedly in stable condition.
The fatal incident happened on July 27 just before 6 o'clock outside a house in the 600 block of Superior Avenue.
Around 7 o'clock in the evening, police reacted to another gunfire a short distance away and declared the two occurrences to be probably related.
According to images and a video uploaded to his Instagram page, the young artist is leaves behind a son.
After joining Atlantic Records in 2017, the rapper initially experienced popularity.
The 24-year-old has collaborated with musicians such as Boosie Badazz, Latto, Moneybagg Yo, and Lil Durk.
