The good news for James Cook, a rookie running back for the Buffalo Bills, is that his NFL career can only get better from here.

The bad news is that the NFL regular season game was the first time the second-round pick from 2022 touched the ball.

In tonight's 2022 season opener against the Los Angeles Rams, James fumbled.

Early in the second quarter, Cook received an inside handoff from Josh Allen and gained a few yards on a second-and-8 situation from the Buffalo 34.

He expelled the rock, though, and the Rams made a comeback in Buffalo territory.

Analysts and fans alike offered a lot of feedback in response to Cook's error.

Fortunately for Cook, the Bills intercepted Matthew Stafford a few plays later, saving the team from Cook's costly turnover.

But don't be shocked if Zack Moss and Devin Singletary appear frequently in the remaining games.

Bills-Rams can be seen on NBC.
