Amon-Ra St. Brown gets his first chance to prove his productive rookie season wasn't a fluke against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

He'll look to improve on a season in which he set franchise records for receiving yards (912 yards) and receptions (90) by a first-year Lions receiver.

His 912 receiving yards ranked fourth among all rookie receivers, and his 90 catches ranked second among all first-year wideouts.

St. Brown was a fourth-round draft pick (No. 112 overall) a year ago. He won't be able to do so during his sophomore season, and

he'll almost certainly be facing opposing teams' best cover cornerbacks – or second-best corners – on a regular basis in 2022.

It should begin in Detroit's Week 1 game against the Eagles, where he will most likely be matched up with defensive back Avonte Maddox.

Maddox, a product of Detroit King High School, has established himself as one of the league's most dependable corners when it comes to defending slot receivers like St. Brown .

Last season, Maddox allowed only two touchdowns in coverage (on 77 targets), along with five passes defended and one interception.
