Jimmy Garoppolo will return to the starting lineup against the Broncos tonight.

Lance is gone for 4-6 months after suffering an injury last Sunday, thus Garoppolo gets the start.

On September 18, Trey Lance lost his season due to a fractured and dislocated ankle he sustained during a quarterback run against the Seahawks.

The Niners remain steadfastly committed to keeping Lance in the lineup.

But tonight, Jimmy G will take his first snap as the starter since the NFC Championship Game against the eventual Super Bowl champion Rams on January 30.

Lance suffered a triad injury, which means he tore the deltoid and syndesmotic ligaments in his ankle in addition to breaking his fibula.

Lance had successful surgery on Monday for a fibula fracture and ligament disruption.

On March 8, Garoppolo underwent surgery to repair a ruptured capsule in his throwing shoulder.

Now Garoppolo back in the lineup as the 49ers starting QB.
