The Steelers are considering adding depth at linebacker.
With the addition of star edge rusher T.J. With Watt on injured reserve, NFL Media's Tom Pelissero reports that Pittsburgh is working out linebacker Ryan Anderson.
Anderson last worked out for the Giants in training camp last year.
In late August, however, he was suspended for the first six games of the season for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
Anderson was released by New York and did not sign with another team last season.
Anderson, a second-round pick in 2017, spent his first four years with Washington.
Anderson appeared in 52 games for the club, making four starts, tallying 6.0 sacks, seven tackles for loss, and 15 QB hits.
Watt's torn pectoral may not require surgery, and he could return in as little as six weeks, according to the Steelers.
The New Jersey Nets selected Anderson with the 21st overall pick in the 2008 NBA draught, and he was traded to the Orlando Magic in June 2009.
