Marcus Epps spent his first year looking for a permanent home.

In Year 2, a more promising opportunity presented itself, and he needed to sort through the details.

By his third year, there was a soft opening to demonstrate that it was genuine. It was fully operational and ready to bloom this spring.

That is the timeline for Epps' gym in Costa Mesa, Calif., a 5,000-square-foot facility praised by NFL players.

As a sixth-round pick and waiver wire acquisition, Epps split his rookie season between Minnesota and Philadelphia.

On Monday, when the Eagles play the Vikings at Lincoln Financial Field, Epps will start vs the team that selected him.

Epps can awaken and keep an eye on EBS Performance + Fitness, a facility he founded with Karif Byrd, his trainer, business partner, and the man he refers to as his "uncle."

When Epps first entered a gym, he was a teenager and eager to train with Byrd.

It took more than two years to locate and open the gym.
