Justin Herbert suffered a rib cartilage fracture.

Coach Brandon Staley has given the Los Angeles Chargers quarterback a day-to-day status.

In the fourth quarter of the Chargers' Thursday Night Football game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Herbert was hurt.

The third-year quarterback played out the rest of the game and threw an unbelievable touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to extend the Chiefs' advantage to three.

The Chargers lost 27-24 despite Herbert's valiant attempts.

The NFL community reacted to the young star's injury news on Twitter.

Herbert has more time to heal since the injury occurred during last night's game before the Chargers' Week 3 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Herbert will be evaluated by the squad throughout the course of the coming week to see if he will be fit for practise on Wednesday.

Herbert concluded the game yesterday night with 334 yards, three touchdowns, and a costly pick six of 99 yards.
