Jaylon Smith, a former Dallas Cowboys great, is attempting to resurrect his career with an NFC East opponent.

Smith's agent, Doug Hendrickson, announced Monday that Smith will return to the New York Giants, where he concluded the 2021 season.

Smith is attempting to re-enter the NFL after seeing his fortunes and playing time decrease quickly with the Cowboys in 2021.

Dallas dismissed Smith in the middle of the season due to contract concerns, but he did not impress in brief stints with the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants.

However, New York saw enough to lure him back.

Blake Martinez was released by the Giants at the end of training camp, and the team is looking for linebacker depth.

Smith is still only 27 years old and made the Pro Bowl in 2019, so they're trying to find some semblance of that form again, as unlikely as it may be.
