This past weekend saw the passing of Frank Cignetti Sr., a brief-term coach at West Virginia. He was 84 years old.

In Pennsylvania, Cignetti continued his playing career at Indiana University.

Nick Saban was one of his assistants as he advanced through the coaching ranks before taking over the West Virginia position.

The collegiate football programme at Cignetti's alma mater often advanced to the playoffs after he took command.

Throughout his tenure there, he amassed a 182-50-1 record.

In 2013, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
