Much has been written about Russell Wilson's feud with some of his former Seattle Seahawks teammates during his time in the Pacific Northwest.
Richard Sherman and Doug Baldwin were among the ex-Seahawks who did not hide their delight after Seattle defeated Denver in the season opener, thwarting Wilson's revenge game.
"Can't fool the city boy, they know what's up!" Sherman tweeted following the Seahawks' win over the Broncos.
Sherman also tweeted several memes expressing his delight at Wilson's defeat in his return to Seattle.
After the Seahawks won, Baldwin shared the following amusing meme.
Pete Carroll, the Seahawks' head coach, practically encouraged the Seattle fans to jeer Wilson before the Monday Night Football game.
Carroll acknowledged following Seattle's victory that the fans' response to Wilson was not unexpected.
Sherman made it clear before the game's start that Wilson was under a lot of pressure to perform well and guide the Broncos to victory.
Sherman said that the pressure to return to Seattle increased after Wilson signed his new, $242 million deal extension.
