For the first time in two seasons, the Detroit Lions will be the favourites in an NFL game when they play the Washington Commanders this weekend.

Star running back D'Andre Swift aspires to take part in it as well.

Swift is hopeful that he will be ready to participate in Week 2 despite missing his second straight practise due to an ankle issue.

Swift assured that he will "very definitely" be able to play and said that he is "alright."

Swift contributed 31 receiving yards in addition to his 15 carries for 144 yards and a touchdown in the tight loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that Detroit suffered in Week 1.

Since the legendary Barry Sanders back in 1996, Swift was the first running back for the Lions to accomplish this feat in a Week 1 game.

For Week 1, Swift was rated as one of the top running backs in the entire league.

In each of his first two seasons, Swift has topped the Lions in touchdowns.

The Detroit Lions have been competitive in almost every game since Dan Campbell took over in 2021, but the results have yet to materialise.
