Alec Pierce, a rookie wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts, had his NFL debut against the Houston Texans on Sunday, but the game went unnoticed, and it now appears like Pierce might be sidelined for Week 2.
Pierce started exhibiting symptoms like a concussion during Sunday's draw with the Texans, according to Colts head coach Frank Reich. The youngster was put into the concussion protocol on Wednesday.
In Week 2, the Colts will play the Jacksonville Jaguars.
But the most recent information about their young receiver raises the possibility that they might come into the contest a little undermanned.
Matt Ryan, the Colts' rookie quarterback, targeted Pierce twice in Week 1.
Pierce finished the game with zero receptions and zero yards after failing to catch each of the two throw attempts.
Pierce lined up on 51% of the offensive Colts snaps, but he had little of an impact on the contest.
Pierce was selected by the Colts in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. From Cincinnati, he was the 53rd overall pick in his draft class.
His status for Week 2 is unknown, but the Colts should provide a more detailed update as the week progresses.
