The New York Rangers have signed free agent centre Vincent Trocheck to a seven-year contract.
Trochek, who led the Carolina Hurricanes in postseason goals with six, will earn an average of $5.625 million under the salary cap.
Trocheck was a member of the Florida Panthers under Rangers coach Gerard Gallant from 2014 to 2017.
After letting Ryan Strome walk in free agency, the Rangers were in need of a centre.
Trochek said, me and my family both are thrilled to have an opportunity to play in New York.
Trocheck, 29, played three seasons for the Carolina Hurricanes.
Trocheck had 21 goals and 51 points in 81 games last season. In 14 playoff games, he scored six goals and had ten points.
Trocheck, a Pittsburgh native, has 378 points and 150 goals in 555 NHL games with the Hurricanes and Florida Panthers.
His best statistical season came in 2017-18, when he had 75 points in 82 games in Florida.
