With 2.2 seconds left, Jayson Tatum made a pair of free throws en route to a 39-point performance.

The Boston Celtics defeated the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, 109-106.

After Tatum made his free throws, the Grizzlies attempted to inbound the ball, but Ja Morant slipped in the backcourt and was unable to attempt a shot to tie the game.

Morant had 30 points, nine assists, and 8 rebounds in total. For Memphis, Desmond Bane scored 19 points.

For the Celtics, who shot 12 of 37 from beyond the arc, Jaylen Brown had 21 points and nine rebounds but only one of his six 3-point attempts.

Marcus Smart and Al Horford both scored 15 points, and Smart also had 12 assists.

A 10-0 Boston surge in the middle of the fourth quarter broke open a 90-90 tie, and Boston went on to win for the third time in a row. Memphis had rallied to take the lead heading into the quarter.

Memphis made an effort to reduce the distance, but came up short.

Memphis was able to carry an 85-84 advantage into the final frame thanks to a 3-pointer by John Konchar in the dying seconds.
