The Charlotte Hornets have signed Dennis Smith Jr., according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Dennis, a former ninth-round pick, has previously played for the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, and Portland Trail Blazers.

The Dallas Mavericks selected Dennis Smith Jr. ninth overall in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Coming out of North Carolina State, Dennis was regarded as a talent with immense potential.

During his debut season, Dennis averaged 15.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game in 69 games.

Unfortunately, Dennis has not had the kind of NBA debut that anyone might have hoped for.

Dennis played for the Mavericks for fewer than two seasons before being traded to the New York Knicks.

Dennis has previously played for the Detroit Pistons and the Portland Trail Blazers in addition to the Knicks and Mavericks.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported on Wednesday that he has signed with the Charlotte Hornets.
