Mithali Raj confirmed her retirement from all circket games on June 8, 2022.

From 2004 till 2022, Mithali Raj served as the Test and ODI captain of the Indian Women's Cricket team.

When Maithali Raj made her ODI debut in 1999 against Ireland at the age of 16, she scored an undefeated 114 runs.

She scored a 214 against England at Taunton in 2002, breaking the previous record for the best individual test score in history. She was 19 years old at the time.

In both 2005 and 2017, Mithali Raj made it to the ICC ODI World Cup final as the first captain of India (both men's and women's teams).

Mithali Raj was honored with : - Arjuna Award in 2003 - Padma Shri  in 2015  - Vogue Sportsperson of the year in 2017 -Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna in 2021 

The movie "Shabaash Mithu," starring Taapsee Pannu is based on the life of Mithali Raj, will be released on July 15, 2022.
