After Irv Smith was placed on injured reserve, the Vikings began searching for a new tight end.

T.J. Hockenson was signed by the Minnesota Vikings from the Detroit Lions as their new tight end.

Irv Smith Jr.'s injury, which will keep him out for 8–10 weeks due to a high ankle sprain, is made less painful by the inclusion of Hockenson.

Hockenson's acquisition to the Vikings gives them a great player who should fit in well.

He was moved from the Detroit Lions to the Minnesota Vikings only a few days prior, and he has completely disrespected his old team.

Hockenson has excelled in the league at gaining yards per catch. With +117 yards after the catch, Hockenson is second in the NFL this season.

He is just behind San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey With +163 yard per catch.

He took part in all 16 games for the Lions in 2020, catching 67 passes for 723 yards and six touchdowns.

He excels at both running and passing, and he can do a little bit of everything.
