Matthew Perry, renowned for his role in the iconic TV series "Friends," passed away at the age of 54.

His struggle with addiction to painkillers and alcohol was a well-documented part of his life.

Tragically, Perry was discovered unconscious in a hot tub at his Los Angeles residence, and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Both the LA Times and TMZ reported that there were no indications of foul play in his untimely death.

In his memoir, "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing," published the previous year, Perry recounted his numerous attempts at detox and the significant financial cost of his sobriety journey.

Health problems, including a burst colon in 2018, were a result of his substance abuse, leading to a major surgery and the use of a colostomy bag for an extended period.

Perry's contribution to the entertainment world extended beyond "Friends" to films like "Fools Rush In" and "The Whole Nine Yards," showcasing his versatility as an actor.
