Time is running out for the Baltimore Ravens to reach a long-term agreement with Lamar Jackson before the season begins.

Jackson has said that once the regular season begins, he will put all contract negotiations on hold.

On Sunday afternoon, the Ravens take on the New York Jets in their season opener.

Jackson informed the media today that his strict deadline for negotiations is Friday.

A deal might be finalised in the next two days, according to Jackson, who also stated that he and the Ravens are still talking about a contract.

Jackson will receive little more than $23 million if he chooses to exercise his fifth-year option and play out the 2022 campaign.

The Baltimore Ravens selected Jackson in the first round with the 32nd overall pick after moving up with the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was the fifth quarterback chosen that year.

Jackson signed a rookie contract worth $9.47 million with a $4.97 million signing bonus on June 5, 2018.
