Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs is expected to win the state's Democratic governorship nomination on Tuesday.

Following the 2020 election, she received a significant amount of media attention.

According to Associated Press election results, Hobbs was 170,000 votes ahead of Lopez as of 8 p.m.

By 8:10 p.m., the AP had declared Hobbs the winner.

Hobbs was widely regarded as the clear favourite to receive the nomination.

She triumphed over business consultant Marco Lopez.

The secretary of state began her campaign in 2021.

She made headlines for her role in certifying the results of Arizona's election after former President Trump claimed election fraud.

Kari Lake, a former local newscaster, will be her opponent in November.
