Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has achieved the coveted No. 1 ranking in ODI bowling following his outstanding performance in the Asia Cup final.
Mohammed Siraj's remarkable bowling figures of 6 for 21 in the Asia Cup final propelled him to the top position in the ICC ODI Rankings.
Siraj's career-best performance not only secured India's victory in the Asia Cup final but also catapulted him from the 9th position to the No. 1 spot in the ODI bowler rankings.
Prior to the Asia Cup final, Mohammed Siraj had 637 rating points, but his incredible spell elevated his tally to 694 points, surpassing Josh Hazlewood.
This is the second time Mohammed Siraj has reached the No. 1 ranking, with his previous stint at the top occurring in January 2023 after an impressive display against Sri Lanka.
The current ICC ODI Rankings for Bowlers feature Mohammed Siraj at the summit with 694 rating points, followed by Josh Hazlewood and Trent Boult.
Siraj is gearing up to face Australia in a three-match ODI series led by Pat Cummins, starting on September 22 in Mohali.
India's star players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav are set to join the squad for the final ODI of the series.
The Indian team's lineup for the first two ODIs against Australia includes KL Rahul as captain and wicketkeeper, with key players like Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah in the mix.
Mohammed Siraj aims to carry his momentum from the Australia ODIs into the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023, which begins on October 05 with India facing Australia in the tournament opener on October 08 in Chennai.
