The historical and spiritual importance of Guru Nanak Jayanti is rooted in the legacy, contributions, and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, born in 1469. 

On this auspicious occasion, Sikhs globally celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti with rituals like Akhand Path, Prabhat Pheris, and Nagar kirtan, honoring the Sikh faith. 

India designates Guru Nanak Jayanti as a gazetted holiday, marked by a 48-hour continuous recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib and special rituals in Gurudwaras. 

Guru Nanak Jayanti rituals include the symbolic parade, Nagar kirtan, and the significant tradition of langar, emphasizing service (Sewa) and communal participation.
