Viewers from around the world are curious as the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar nears its conclusion as to what kind of award the victorious team and its players would receive.
The prize money for winning the most prestigious sporting competition in the world is enormous; in 2018, the reigning champion France received $38 million.
Germany received a $35 million prize in 2014 after defeating Argentina in the World Cup Final.
Teams competing in the 2022 FIFA World Cup will get a total of $440 million, an increase of $40 million from the previous competition.
Regardless of the outcome, every team competing in this year's World Cup is assured at least $9 million in prize money, with the rewards rising with each consecutive round of the competition.
16th round: $13 million for each team
Final four: $17 million for each team
Fourth: $25 million
Third:$27 million
Of the $440 million prize pool, $72 million goes to the FIFA World Cup Final, with the winner receiving $42 million and the runner-up receiving $30 million.
Depending on how a team distributes the prize money among its members, each player will receive a different amount of money.
Along with their national team pay, players also receive prize money. Kylian Mbappe, a standout player for France at the 2018 World Cup, reportedly made about $22,300 each game.
