Brian Robinson, a rookie running back for the Washington Commanders, was shot on Sunday.
In Washington D.C., he was the victim of an attempted robbery or carjacking.
He was taken to a nearby hospital and is now in stable condition.
According to police, they responded to a call to the 1000 block of H Street NE in Washington, D.C., where they discovered the shooting victim.
Robinson was identified as the victim, who had two gunshot wounds to his lower extremities.
According to police, two suspects fled the scene, and a firearm was found nearby.
Robinson was chosen by the Commanders in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Robinson had 14 carries for 57 yards and one touchdown in two preseason games this month.
Washington coach Ron Rivera posted on Twitter late Sunday night that he had visited Robinson in the hospital.He is stable now.
