Jawanda Evans spent her free time during the pandemic indulging in her childhood interest of sewing garments, which led to the launch of Werthé by Jem.
The showroom at 33 Dover St., Suite 303, was once just an idea that was turned into a real clothes business.
The self-taught custom fashion designer began her career at the age of 11.
Evans' family taught her the fundamentals of sewing, and her aptitude grew over time.
In 2013, she was placed on rest after suffering a back injury while working as a nurse in a hospital.
When she isn't saving lives at the hospital, she is rushing to her showroom to meet deadlines.
She may work on four to six outfits at a time every day.
Customers can schedule an appointment at the Brockton store by contacting Evans through her Facebook and Instagram pages.
Evans' designs will appear in two upcoming fashion events in September and October.
