Barcelona announced official agreement to sign Leeds star Rapinha.

The move, which is still subject to medical approval, is said to be worth €58 million ($58.2 million) and could eventually increase to €65 million.

Barcelona managed to avoid competition from Chelsea, who had already agreed to a transfer with Leeds.

Raphinha, on the other hand, aspired to play for Barcelona. His desire, combined with the assistance of his agent, former Barcelona player Deco, was instrumental in his arrival at the Catalan giants.

While Barcelona has not disclosed the transfer fee, the club is said to have paid €58 million with add-ons that could bring the total to €67 million.

The 25-year-old Rapinha has already arrived in Barcelona for his medical.

Arsenal was also in contention to sign the leed star.

He'll almost certainly be a more dangerous goal threat. He finished last season with 11 goals and 3 assists, tying him for Barcelona's top scorer with Memphis Depay.

He is also expected to play in Brazil's World Cup team this fall in Qatar, after making nine appearances for the national team since his debut last August.
