The intriguing connection to the previous season of American Horror Stories is revealed in the series premiere.
The second season of the AHS anthology offshoot, debuted on Thursday.
The Second season takes viewers back to 1961 Mississippi.
In 1961 Mississippi, a wealthy toymaker (Denis O'Hare as Mr. Van Wirth) is looking for a new mother for his son Otis.
But the story is not quite as charming as it seems.
To begin with, the only reason Otis is without a mother is that Mr. Van Wirth found his wife having a sexual relationship with another man, which led to their being dumped naked into a deep well
Even worse, Mr. Van Wirth kidnaps innocent women, transforms them into living dolls, and then compels them to participate in a "pageant" in order to choose a new mother.
The unwilling participants are put to the test on everything from shirt folding to setting the table, and whoever receives the lowest score gets sent down the slide one way.
The subject for this year is dealing with real-life horrors and staying sane.
