Scientists have found that almost all sea turtles born on Florida beaches in the previous four years have been female.

The sand on some beaches is becoming much warmer due to heatwaves brought on by an escalating climate crisis.
The National Ocean Service states that male turtle hatchlings will result from an egg incubation temperature below 27deg.C (82 deg. F).
The hatchlings will be female if the eggs are incubated above 31 deg. C (89 deg. F).
A mixture of male and female young turtles will be produced in climates that fluctuate between the two extremes.
Researchers also found that the proportion of female turtles increased with sand temperature.
