After the San Francisco 49ers' loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon in their season opener, Trey Lance and Kyle Shanahan are aware that they are solely responsible for their actions.
The 49ers' starting quarterback was terrible in his first game as QB1, going just 13 of 28 for 164 yards and an interception.
Lance did, in fact, have moments of brilliance as he led the team's rushing offence by carrying the ball 13 times for 54 yards.
Lance was unable to further the offence, though, which is a truth.
In the meantime, Kyle Shanahan added his voice to those of Trey Lance in discussing the lack of consistency as the cause of their defeat. .
The 49ers actually had a 10-0 lead in the third quarter until Justin Fields and the Bears began to reduce it.
The Bears totally took over with a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter after reducing the margin to three in the third.
Shanahan was disappointed that they were unable to keep up their momentum the entire time.
The 49ers still have time to make amends because it is only the first game of the season.
