The following group of QBs may find themselves behind the eight-ball as the 2022 season approaches

if new teams decide to hand the ball over to the offense in 2023

due to a strong college QB class that is expected to have an impact at the professional level.

Five NFL starting quarterbacks listed below may not have jobs in 2023:

#1 - Geno Smith The Seahawks should have known that 2022 would be a dismal year after losing Russell Wilson,

who had been their franchise cornerstone for the previous ten years, since they traded him over the offseason.

who had been their franchiseSeattle will select Geno Smith, a trusted veteran, because Drew Lock doesn't yet appear to be able to direct the attack. Since his debut season in 2013, Smith has not had a stellar season and has not been given the QB1 position. cornerstone for the previous ten years, since they traded him over the offseason.

An ideal target for the Seahawks in the upcoming April draft may be Anthony Richardson of Florida, assuming this season goes as predicted and they fail to get out of the NFC West abyss. W

#2 - Daniel Jone Daniel Jones hasn't seemed to become "the guy" in New York during his first three seasons after graduating from Duke.

The neck injury he sustained last year is set to hold him back during a crucial fourth year in the pros, despite the fact that the 2019 season showed promise and the 2020 season demonstrated the kind of growth required to have hope for the long-term.

A win-now threat that might depose him at any time is Tyrod Taylor. Jones' contract isn't guaranteed after this year, so any downturn in his performance may cause the Giants to completely abandon their intentions for him.

#3 - Marcus Mariota Marcus Mariota was signed by the Falcons to a two-year, $18.75 million contract before the 2022 NFL Draft, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

It was doubtful why the Falcons would sign someone who wasn't exactly going to spark a bidding war on a deal that might legitimately be considered an overpay with the draft so close at hand. It

It is still unknown what the Falcons' strategy is given that Desmond Ridder was chosen by the organization, which the front management acknowledged was made more out of convenience than on purpose.

#4 - Tua Tagovailoa Tua Tagovailoa has not had it easy in his first two professional seasons playing for the Miami Dolphins after being selected in the top five of the 2020 NFL Draft,

despite his championship history at the collegiate level. In each of his first two seasons, Tagovailoa declined

#5 - Mitchell Trubisky Mitchell Trubisky may be the player on this list who is most deserving of a starting position in a year, but Kenny Pickett's arrival in Pittsburgh will almost surely force Trubisky out of the Steelers' starting lineup.

Trubisky will probably start despite Pickett's impressive preseason performance because of his NFL background. Remember, this was a postseason team from the previous season, so Pittsburgh would be wise to stick with the more seasoned quarterback.

Don't be shocked to see Trubisky serving as a top-tier NFL backup for the 2023 season and, possibly, beyond because Pickett looks inevitable in the "Steel City."
