Rules as per Indian Railways policy updated December 2025. If the train is cancelled by Railways, all passengers get a full refund regardless of ticket type.

About IRCTC Cancellation Refund Rules
Indian Railways charges a flat cancellation fee if you cancel more than 48 hours before departure (₹60–₹240 depending on class). For cancellations within 12–48 hours, 25% of the fare is deducted. Within 4–12 hours, 50% is deducted. No refund is given after chart preparation (4 hours before departure).
Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets are generally non-refundable. If the train itself is cancelled by Railways, a full refund is given automatically to all passengers.
