Some points From Tennessee Titans HC Mike Vrabel’s  Monday Press Conference.

A day after his team’s 17-14 loss to the Chargers, Titans Coach Mike Vrabel addressed the media at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park on Monday.

The Titans are now focused on Saturday’s game against the Texans, so here are some of the hot points from today’s press conference:

Ryan Tannehill, the quarterback, will play this weekend if he can, according to Vrabel.

Despite suffering a recurrence of his ankle ailment against the Chargers, Tannehill remained in the game.

Tannehill, according to Vrabel, “will work extremely hard to get back and (try to) find a way to make the game, like he always has.” Again, we won’t ever doubt his tenacity or eagerness to come back and support us in our victory.
We’ll use Ryan as our quarterback if he’s fit and able to play.

Vrabel was questioned over the defensive coverage that allowed Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert to deliver a 35-yard pass to receiver Mike Williams, which prepared L.A. for the game-winning field goal in the waning seconds.

Vrabel remarked, “The quarterback broke contain and made a play down the sidelines. “(The defense) was insufficient. Once more, the quarterback escaped his defenses, and the player made a move down the field. They made a play, whether or not they were focused on him.

-Vrabel stated that backup quarterback Malik Willis was ready to replace an ailing Ryan Tannehill on Sunday.

In the first half, Willis completed 3 of 4 passes for 20 yards.

Vrabel added,

“I believed he was ready and went in and was the most comfortable that he’s been in. “Malik has worked really hard to try to play the game, control the huddle, and complete all of the things we’ve discussed about as far as how he needs to develop during the week when there aren’t a lot of reps,” the coach said.

-The Titans had at least seven additional injuries in Sunday’s game in addition to Tannehill’s.

The game was eventually abandoned due to injuries to Dylan Cole (ankle), Terrance Mitchell (hamstring), Andrew Adams (wrist), Dillon Radunz (knee), Josh Thompson (concussion), Jack Gibbens, and Nate Davis. Some didn’t come back.
Many of the players from that game could or could not continue to play, according to Vrabel.

The Titans have used more players (80) through 14 games than any other NFL team.

The Titans have made an effort to monitor and prevent injuries. Regarding the training camp timetables and the monitoring of the player workload in practices, he claimed that the team has “changed a lot.”

Football is an active sport, according to Vrabel. “Where we are right now is where we are. To get the boys ready to leave, we’ll need to find out who is available. Football played professionally is a violent sport.

Vrabel was especially questioned about Sunday’s performance by the offensive coordinator Todd Downing.

Probably not good enough to win, was Vrabel’s assessment on the team’s performance.

When asked if any of the offensive plays are being called by him, Vrabel replied, “I am responsible for every call that goes in, whether it gets executed, whether it’s a good call or bad call.

DeMarcus Walker, a defensive lineman for the Titans, recorded two sacks on Sunday to bring his season total to 6.5.

Vrabel remarked, “I thought he played incredibly hard. “I believe he had several powerful rushes. He exerted a lot of effort while playing, making the most of the opportunities that presented themselves, and was effective. We’re hoping he can assist us. He has put forth a lot of effort and been very resilient. I like your attitude.”

-Vrabel also applauded cornerback Roger McCreary for his performance on Sunday, which resulted in Joshua Kalu’s interception at the conclusion of the first half.

Vrabel observed, “Just looking at the look on Roger’s face – he is so competitive.” “He is so driven to succeed. It’s a great play to have been able to comprehend the scenario on Sunday. He has been consistently consistent over the past two weeks, and we need that to continue.”

Vrabel was asked if he would think about resting certain players in the upcoming games to ensure that everyone is fit for the Jaguars game in Week 18.

He said, “No.”
