New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers experienced what appears to be a minor ankle sprain during Sunday\u2019s practice. The injury occurred late in the session, leaving the promising young player sidelined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nabers was observed on the sidelines with his left shoe off while the team’s trainers assessed his condition. Although he didn\u2019t participate in the last 20 minutes of practice, the receiver was able to get back on his feet, albeit with a noticeable limp. He eventually made his way back to the locker room, still favoring his left ankle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Giants will conduct further testing to determine the extent of the injury, including an MRI and X-ray. The team hopes for positive results, especially with only four weeks remaining until the start of the regular season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the injury, Nabers delivered a standout moment in what was otherwise a challenging day for the Giants\u2019 offense. He made an impressive 35-yard touchdown catch between safeties Jason Pinnock and Dane Belton, showcasing his athleticism and potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Receivers coach Mike Groh has praised Nabers for his hard work and dedication during training camp, stating, \u201cHe\u2019s gotten off to a very good start. He\u2019s really invested off the field, and we\u2019ve thrown a lot at him. The extra time we\u2019ve spent preparing him to go out there and make plays has paid off. I\u2019m very impressed with his approach.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Giants are set to practice again on Monday, with plans for healthy offensive starters, including quarterback Daniel Jones, to play in the upcoming preseason game against the Houston Texans. Nabers played 12 snaps in the Giants\u2019 first preseason game but did not record a target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The difference between a minor ankle sprain and a more severe high-ankle sprain is significant. The Giants are hopeful that the injury is not severe, as a high-ankle sprain could result in a more extended recovery time. They are eager to avoid a situation similar to running back Saquon Barkley\u2019s high-ankle sprains, which caused him to miss multiple games in past seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Giants await further medical evaluations, they remain optimistic that Nabers will recover quickly and be ready to contribute when the regular season begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
