The Sunday Ticket lawsuit dates back to 2015 and involves class actions from commercial establishments and over 2.4 million residential customers, covering 2011 to 2022.

The case revolves around the NFL's antitrust exemption, allowing TV rights sales to free networks, which was never meant for "pay" TV.

The alleged harm comes from the NFL setting high prices for Sunday Ticket, pushing fans towards local games and securing billions from DirecTV and CBS/Fox.

Initially dismissed by the district court, the case was revived by an appeals court, leading to a trial in June 2023.

The jury awarded $4.7 billion, potentially tripling to $14.1 billion if confirmed, prompting the NFL to continue fighting the verdict.

The NFL might change the Sunday Ticket pricing structure or discontinue it to avoid further liability.

The $14.1 billion burden could be passed down to others, starting with the players.

This lawsuit highlights how the NFL exploited its most loyal fans, making them pay more to watch out-of-market games, and future changes could make Sunday Ticket more accessible and affordable.
