The New England Patriots have released a notable quarterback due to their 0-2 start to the season.

The quarterback released was previously with the Carolina Panthers and was a 2022 third-round draft pick.

Corral, the released quarterback, was waived from the exempt/left squad list, as reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

With Corral no longer on the roster, the Patriots now have two quarterbacks: Mac Jones and another 2022 draftee named Bailey Zappe.

The Patriots acquired Corral on August 31, after he was waived by the Panthers last month.

There was concern about Corral's well-being when he was absent from the Patriots' practice on September 8, just two days before their season opener.

Corral had been open about his struggles with alcoholism and depression, which added to the concern during his absence.

Head coach Bill Belichick described Corral's absence as "a personal matter."

In 2022, Corral missed his entire rookie year due to a Lisfranc injury.

It's likely that Corral would have had playing time with the Panthers in 2022 if he hadn't been injured, as they used three different starting quarterbacks during the season.
