Lamar Jackson Lodges Trademark Complaints Against Troy Aikman

Lamar Jackson has filed complaints against Troy Aikman with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Jackson aims to block Aikman's attempt to expand the “Eight” branding into apparel and merchandise.

Both Jackson and Aikman have worn the number 8 during their football careers.

Aikman has a beer brand named EIGHT Elite Light Lager, which was the top new independent beer brand in 2022.

Jackson owns or has applied for trademarks on his "Era 8" line and other variations using the number 8.

Jackson claims his trademark filings predate Aikman’s attempt to trademark "Eight."

Jackson argues that Aikman's use of "Eight" is likely to cause confusion and deceive the public.

Aikman has until August 18 to appeal Jackson's complaint, which was filed on July 9.

The trademark dispute adds interest to the Ravens' Monday Night Football games on October 21 and November 25, when Aikman will be part of the broadcast team.
