Herbert Becomes Highest-Paid Quarterback in NFL with New Contract

Justin Herbert has signed a new five-year contract extension with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The deal is worth $262.5 million, making him the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL by average salary.

The deal includes up to $218.7 million in guaranteed money.

Herbert's new contract surpasses the contracts of Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts, who both signed extensions worth $260 million earlier this year.

Herbert was drafted sixth overall by the Chargers in 2020, and he has quickly established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

He has thrown for 14,089 yards and 94 touchdowns in his first three seasons.

The new deal will keep Herbert with the Chargers through the 2029 season.

He will have a no-trade clause, which means he can only be traded if he agrees to it.

The Chargers are hoping that Herbert will lead them to sustained success.

They have a talented roster that includes Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Austin Ekeler.
