Eagles' Injury Updates and Coach's Preseason Regrets

By Babita Singh

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that three players will be sidelined for their upcoming home opener in Week 2 of the NFL season.

Running back Kenneth Gainwell, who had 14 carries in the previous game against the New England Patriots, will not be available for the game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Additionally, cornerback James Bradberry and safety Reed Blankenship will also miss the Eagles' next match.

Bradberry is currently in concussion protocol, while Gainwell and Blankenship have both sustained rib injuries.

With Kenneth Gainwell out of the lineup, it is expected that free-agent addition D'Andre Swift will take on a more significant role.

Coach Nick Sirianni has expressed his intention to increase Swift's involvement in the game after his limited touches in the last match.

In James Bradberry's absence, the Eagles may turn to undrafted cornerback Josh Jobe, who joined the roster in 2022.

Safeties Justin Evans, Terrell Edmunds, and rookie Sydney Brown may also see increased playing time due to Reed Blankenship's absence.

Fletcher Cox, the defensive tackle, has a rib injury and is listed as questionable for the upcoming game.

Linebacker Nakobe Dean has been placed on the injured reserve list following a foot injury, leaving the Eagles with some concerns in the linebacker and safety positions.
